a view from Egypt

my head lay in the valley
between two mountains of down
striped morning-yellow
from the sun’s crooked-smile
through the blinds.

my sky bares no clouds
only Eggshell– flat.
a paper skyscraper to the right
paired with its twin tower;
both beacons in the night.

my body floats above
a motionless sea
of dense cut-loop pile.

a shrine to the past
is erected to the left.
the business district,
adjacent always abuzz.
always orderly in its chaos.

its rectangle block houses
paper mills,
power grids;
the technology sector sleeps this early.

my residence only temporary
as I rest amongst 500;
my view from Egypt.
